Which staple sauces, condiments, and cooking spices should you always have on hand? Which spice blends are good? A basic kitchen should have some sauces, condiments, and spices, regardless of the kind of dishes that you like cooking. It will be simpler to cook at home if you have these staple sauces and spices.
Having an assortment of spices and sauces on hand makes cooking and meal planning much simpler at home. In this manner, you won’t have to drop everything and go to the store whenever a recipe asks for anything. It also facilitates the process of creating original recipes. I wanted to share some of the sauces and spices that I prefer to have on hand in my kitchen.

I normally have three bottles of stir fry sauce on hand—two more costly and more unusual varieties, plus one cheaper one. This makes preparing some stir-fried veggies for a dinner or as a side dish simple.
To make things simpler and faster, I always have frozen stir-fry vegetables on hand, but I really like to use fresh veggies, particularly onions, peppercorns, celery, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, and mushrooms. I add two varieties of stir fry sauce and a few shakes of soy sauce, cooking wine, and/or lemon juice after the food has been stir-fried for a few minutes.
Finely chopped garlic
Garlic is a flavor enhancer and health food that works well in stir fries, salads, and casseroles. Though, let’s face it, cutting garlic is hard. Fresh garlic just tastes better than garlic powder. I give in and buy little jars of minced garlic.
Juice from lemons
To mention a few dishes, lemon juice gives a tart flavor to fruit salad, stir-fries, casseroles, and salad dressing. It also keeps fruit fresher for longer.
Wine
I normally have red, white, and sherry wine on hand for cooking. Furthermore, quality vermouth does not deteriorate with time. I merely add a little wine if I think anything needs a little more zip. Marinating meat in wine results in a delicious kebob, while scallops are excellent when breaded and cooked in butter and wine. A simple recipe is to cover pork chops in crockpot with a mixture of mushroom soup and white wine. The alcohol evaporates when the wine is cooked all the way through, leaving a delicious flavor. It also provides a solid excuse to sip on a glass of wine while cooking.
Basic Spices You Should Always Keep on Hand
I usually aim to have the following spices on hand since you’ll probably find them in recipes. You may buy the little store brand containers or buy modest quantities in bulk to save money and maintain the freshness of the spices.

Adaptable Seasoning
